Brothers of the Son

One of the phenomenal bands that performed at The Big Chili was Brothers of the Son. This six piece band embodies the spirit and emotion of Southern Rock, Colorado Style. Influences such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Allman Brothers drive the twin guitars, keys and a rockin’ rhythm section to set the stage for strong vocals. Interludes of acoustic 12 string and country rock ballads round out a really special band.

You can enjoy Brothers of the Son at The Little Bear in Evergreen on Saturday, December 17th. Be sure to mark your calendars! If you missed this great band at the Cook-Off, you can get a sampling here.

The Big Chili is extremely appreciative to Cactus Jack’s Saloon and Grill for stepping up when we needed them the most. They have recently volunteered to sponsor our Stage for the event. This is a large sponsorship and makes a huge difference in what our fire departments and firefighters receive in the end. Thank you for your generosity, Cactus Jack’s!

And thank you to The Little Bear, who is sponsoring all our bands for the day — helping make The Big Chili a true arts festival. The bands they are bringing in include: Just Desserts, Mountain Magic Band, Fresh Jefferson, Places and The Nadas.

It’s our sponsors and volunteers who make this event successful and impact what we’re able to raise for our local volunteer fire departments. The other element we need to make it all come together is you! Come on out on September 11th for a day of fun, music, great food and community!

The Little Bear and The Big Chili Cook-Off are excited to have a few wonderful local bands performing at the event on September 11th. We are pleased to announce Just Desserts and Mountain Magic will be at The Big Chili.

Just Desserts – Is it Bluegrass? Folk? Americana? Country? Acoustic? We don’t know, but Just Desserts has smoking tight harmonies that are sweeter than apple pie and stickier than a hot fudge sundae!!! The band members include Bill Chapman on mandolin, guitar and vocals, Tom Chapman on guitar and vocals, Jim Loats on Dobro, and  Doug Gallob on bass and vocals.

Mountain Magic  performs an eclectic, but always danceable mix of classic pop rock, classic soul, country rock, classic country, bluegrass, swing, blues, R&B, and more, including original compositions. Band members include Tom Chapman, Keith Terry, Jamie Fields, Rick McCullough, and Charlie Ferrill.

It’s bound to be an exciting day – mark your calendars so you don’t miss it!

Celebrate Life

The Little Bear, located in historic, downtown Evergreen, is a modern day Old West saloon. Formerly a church and a drugstore, the Little Bear has always been the place to hear music, munch munchies, drink drinks and just let loose a little bit. No one expects anything from you at the Little Bear, except to be yourself and have a good time.

This is why the Little Bear is a favorite haunt of our local volunteer firefighters. These men and women get hot and dirty, encounter risks and great physical challenges, and regularly face down danger – all in the service of their communities. When they are craving a more relaxed environment, they meet at Evergreen’s favorite saloon for what the Denver Post calls “popular pandemonium”.  Here they can enjoy live music six nights a week, fabulous food and libations, and the camaraderie of like-minded souls.

If you’re in the mood to celebrate life, you just might want to stop in at the Little Bear. Look here to check out the musicians who will be entertaining the next several weeks. While you’re there, why don’t you give them a shout out for all their support of our volunteer fire departments.

The Nadas

The Little Bear is a cornerstone of mountain living here in Evergreen. Even those who don’t live in the area have heard of The Little Bear’s style and personality. Here at the Big Chili Cook Off, we love the Little Bear because they are a steadfast partner of the cook off and supporter of our volunteer fire fighters.

They have flexed their muscles for the Big Chili Cook Off on September 11, 2011, and are bringing in a smash Indie-Rock band for our event. We are thrilled to announce that The Nadas will be our headliner for the evening. If you are not familiar with The Nadas, singers/guitarists Mike Butterworth and Jason Walsmith, bassist Jon Locker, drummer Jason Smith, and violinist Becca Smith mix country, rock, alternative, and indie with flawless songwriting and catchy melodies for a crowd-pleasing experience.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to hear a first-rate band performing in our own back yard. You will have the most memorable experience, while supporting our deserving mountain fire fighters.
