volunteer firefighters in ColoradoThanks to our sponsor Stagecoach Sports Grill for stepping up to the plate and giving to our local fire departments. Stagecoach is a mountain style hangout with 14 LCD TV’s where you can watch your favorite teams, and experience their award-winning menu items and great service. It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends and watch “The Game.”

These shops and restaurants will be open during The Big Chili Cook-Off, so if you’re looking for a place to take a break during the event, be sure to stop in and see what’s here.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your firefighter, you need look no further than one of our favorite local stores – Pine Country Feed. Located on Hwy 285, Pine Country Feed has many unique, cowboy and cowgirl gifts, but these caught my eye as being particularly special.

Don’t wait because they go fast!

And… if you haven’t gotten your 2012 Firefighter Calendar yet, it’s not too late! You can purchase them at The Big Chili. 100% of the proceeds from every calendar sold through the end of the year goes to our local fire departments.

2011 Holiday Walk

The town of Evergreen will be hosting some very illustrious guests this weekend. The Evergreen Downtown Business Association is holding its 20th annual Holiday Walk in downtown Evergreen, on Friday, December 2, beginning with the 5:00pm arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Lake House to light the community tree. Santa & Mrs. Claus will arrive in a fire truck to light the tree and sing carols. Caroling will be lead by the Evergreen Lutheran Church Choir.

After the tree lighting, you can continue the holiday cheer by walking with Santa and Mrs. Claus to historic downtown Evergreen for photos, roasted chestnuts, choirs, bell ringers, face painting, dance performances, and more.  You can make your own Christmas ornaments and wooden toys too!  Join in the celebration with local merchants, taking advantage of holiday specials, live entertainment throughout the evening and holiday treats. Photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus will be at the Ice House Café. Photos begin at 6:45 P.M. and the cost is $5 (and well worth it since this is the real Santa and his wife.)

This is an incredibly fun event, especially for the little ones. Bundle up your kiddos (and yourself, too) and come out for a night of merriment and memories. Shuttle service will be available from Hiwan Homestead, Church of the Transfiguration, Lake House, and RTD parking lot next to Christ the King Church on Hwy 74.

On the main street in downtown Evergreen is a wonderful little store called Seasonally Yours Evergreen Taffy Co. and Fresh Fudge Too. The shop is colorful, fun, and you’re sure to find just the right gifts for those special people in your lives. If you need a little treat while you’re there, the taffy and fudge are mouthwatering.

We are thrilled that Seasonally Yours is going to be a vendor at The Big Chili Cook-Off on September 11th. They will have cupcake papers filled with fudge available for sale, and Seasonally Yours is generously giving 50¢ from each sale to our mountain area volunteer fire departments.

Thank you Seasonally Yours!

NAPA Auto Parts – Evergreen

Posted in 2011, Around Town, The Big Chili Cook-Off with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 04-27-2011 by thebigchilicookoffevergreen

Thank you to Rob Walker, the owner of NAPA Auto Parts in Evergreen, who is a generous sponsor of The Big Chili Cook-Off and our mountain area volunteer fire departments. He understands the need for mountain area firefighters, and the commitment and courage of our volunteers. And he knows that it takes community involvement to keep our six mountain fire departments thriving.

He also *knows* auto parts. Not only does Rob know his product, but he and the folks at NAPA Auto Parts in Evergreen know what ‘good service’ means. They are well-informed and happy to help you find what you’re looking for, whether it is a product like bearings or a flywheel; or that specialty part you need to finish fixing up your American muscle car.  In the words of one of their customers, ” The folks working here are knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile for you. It is a pleasure dealing with people that want to give you good service.” Whether you love working on cars, prefer to do your own vehicle maintenance, or need a part for your tractor, NAPA in Evergreen is your local auto parts source.
