volunteer firefighters in ColoradoAlpine Rescue Team is a group of highly trained non-paid professional rescue-mountaineers based in Evergreen, Colorado. It is the only nationally-accredited mountain rescue team in Colorado that is the designated search and rescue team for three county sheriffs: Jefferson, Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties. In 2010, ART performed 116 search, rescue or recovery missions and conducted over 30 field practices and 50 classroom trainings. Team members contributed nearly 20,000 person-hours of time valued at $500,000.

In 2010, ART received the Valor Award of the National Association for Search and Rescue.

Alpine Rescue Team has responded to wilderness emergencies since 1959; performing mountain search and rescue, day or night, 24/7. This service is always free to any individual or agency in need of their expertise and assistance. But please – be careful and know what you’re doing before embarking on winter backcountry travel.

On a different note ~  if you haven’t gotten your 2012 Firefighter Calendar yet, it’s not too late! You can purchase them at The Big Chili. 100% of the proceeds from every calendar sold through the end of the year goes to our local fire departments.
